We’ve come a long way since Andy’s bedroom almost 25 years ago. The first full trailer for Toy Story 4 was released by Pixar earlier this week.
Woody (Tom Hanks) and the gang are going on another adventure, this time with a new toy their new owner. More specifically, a toy Bonnie made in school. In previous glimpses of the new movie, Forky (Tony Hale) was introduced as a spork with googly eyes, a clay mouth and pipe cleaner arms.
The toys are taking on a new challenge when Forky has an existence crisis. He cried out “I am not a toy! I was made for soup, salad- maybe chili. And then the trash!” before jumping out of the window of the family’s RV traveling on a road trip.
After Woody jumps out of the window to rescue Forky, the two end up in an antique store where they run into Bo Peep (Annie Potts). Bo Peep not only has a new look, but a new attitude towards life outside of being a kid’s toy. As the trailer teases, Woody remains determined to find Bonnie and return with Forky to the rest of the gang, even though Bo Peep has him questioning his existence.
This emotional trailer is just another example of how Pixar is out to make us adults cry in the movie theater.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return in their roles of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, along with Joan Cusack as Jessie and new cast member, Keanu Reeves as an Duke Caboom, a motorcycle-riding stuntman action figure.
Toy Story 4 hits theaters June 21.
