Making their first debut on Soundcloud and then eventually making moves to bigger platforms (like Apple Music and Spotify) these talented individuals deserve to be recognized. Believing in the power of connecting with the local community, I am proud to highlight these raw and hungry creators of music and entertainment.
Scrilla LCF (Loyalty Comes First) is popping up on streaming services and playlists on the daily as his following continues to gain traction. This is no surprise, because his talent gets better each time he plays.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York and currently residing in the Poconos, Scrilla began creating music for fun with his brother. When he finally hit the studio, he was able to perform for the first time within the same year. He understood the importance of self-promotion and handed out flyers which reached other schools and students in the surrounding area. To his talented pleasure, this caused his songs to reach over 10,000 plays in less than two weeks of release. All of this while being a full-time student! The man’s got heart and hustle, that’s for sure.
Scrilla draws inspiration from his brother, who unfortunately passed away 3 years ago, and learned experiences to give life and authenticity to his music. Hoping to give a voice to life’s struggles and challenges, Scrilla stands apart of other musicians for his honesty and raw personality.
Scrilla is the perfect example of the old saying, “never forget where you came from”. He is a firm believer that your past shapes who you are and pushes you into who you are destined to become. Scrilla is highlighted as one of the best upcoming artists because of his unique sound that is rooted with his soul. You don’t see this every day.
Another aspect that sets Scrilla apart from the rest is that his original songs do not contain any foul language, cursing, or mention of drug use. He explains, “My mom came to the studio with me my first time, I had to take out all the curses because I didn’t want to curse in front of her. Ever since then I knew I wanted to make the type of music my mom can listen to.” Mommas boy, or a breath of fresh air? I believe the latter.
When asked what kind of message he wants to imprint on the world, Scrilla replied “You don’t need designer things to look good or feel good. No matter where you came from, or what you’ve been through, there will always be a way.” His chill demeanor and confidence suit him well as he hustles to build his catalogue and network. There is no question that his personality will guarantee his longevity in an industry that’s always changing.
