As a makeup fanatic, I’ll admit that it took me awhile to achieve the eye wing. With all the trials and errors I put myself through, I am aware of the best tips and tricks to master a sexy cat eye. However, some might prefer just a simple definition to the eye.

Check out the below do’s and don’ts of applying eyeliner.

DON’T Over-Do It

There’s nothing worse than smudgy eyeliner. Yeah a thick and bold look is the trend now-a-days, but you don’t want black globs on the corner of your eyes. Quite possibly the furthest thing from seductive! To avoid this mishap, start off with a thin line and apply a bit more to the end of the eyes, if necessary.

DO Experiment

Test out what type of eyeliner look works best for your eyes. If you have smaller eyes, thick eyeliner probably isn’t a good choice. On the other hand, those with larger eyelids require a tad more. Liquid eyeliner is recommended for all eye shapes due to the fact that it glides on smoother than pencil.

DON’T Apply Under Eye

Okay, maybe I shouldn’t say don’t… but it’s not recommended. Eyeliner looks best on the top of the eyes. Plus, too much eyeliner can make the eyes appear smaller. You want them to pop! If you feel like something is missing on the bottom line, then try taking a small brush with dark eyeshadow. Don’t apply directly onto the water line! Just a little beneath it will do the trick.

DO Blend

The best makeup advice I ever received was how to blend everything in. In this case, we are focusing on eyeliner blending. So what’s the secret? Eye shadow! To make your eyes look a bit more natural (regardless of its obviousness), put some eyeshadow on before applying the eyeliner.

DON’T Be Afraid

Last but not least, be confident! All great cosmeticians have to start somewhere, right? Eyeliner can be a bit terrifying because it gives a drastic change to the eyes, but practice makes perfect. Play around with different looks so you get the feel of what looks good. Before you know it, you’ll be applying eyeliner without a mirror! Ok not exactly, but you get the point.
