Over the weekend, the power couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announced their engagement after two years of dating. Here’s a look at JLo and A-Rod’s relationship, which actually began 12 years before they even ever dated.
A Love Story
May 2005: The first time the two met was at a Yankee Game at Shea Stadium in 2005. At the time, JLo was still married to Marc Anthony.
February 2017: Almost 12 year later, the two reconnected after Rodriguez had reached out and asked Lopez for lunch. During the month, they took a trip to the Bahamas, JLo met A-Rod’s family and the couple spent a weekend in Miami. On the 31st, Rodriguez confirmed their relationship on The View.
April 2017: On the Ellen DeGeneres Show, JLo dishes to host, Ellen all about her new man and the tell all of their relationship. Throughout the month, the couple is spotted hand-in-hand by paparazzi.
May 2017: The duo makes their red-carpet debut at the Met Gala in New York City. Lopez wore a gorgeous blue Valentino gown, and Rodriguez in a black-and-blue tuxedo with Harry Winston Premier Diamond cufflinks.
June 2017: Lopez shared a picture on Instagram of her twins and Rodriguez’s two girls all hanging out in the pool. This month the pair also went on a solo, romantic vacation to Europe.
November 2017: Just last month, Lopez and Rodriguez started their search for a home together in New York. During this month, the couple celebrated their first Thanksgiving together as a blended family.
February 2018: The duo celebrates their first anniversary, and the singer even gives her baseball player boo a shout-out at one of her concerts.
August 2018: Lopez and Rodriguez walk the 2018 MTV VMAs red carpet together, where Rodriguez is caught snapping pics of Lopez.
February 2019: The pair celebrate their two-year anniversary together, sweet Instagram posts and all. Towards the end of the month, Lopez and Rodriguez make a beautiful pair in matching Tom Ford at the 2019 Oscars.
March 2019: The couple announced their engagement on Instagram with a picture of the ring with a caption that says, “she said yes.”
