Attention Beyhive! Beyoncé just dropped a Netflix movie AND new album. #Queen
Today, Netflix just released a movie about the superstar’s 2018 Coachella show called Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. The singer also dropped a surprise 40 song album called Homecoming: The Live Album to accompany the movie.
The film captures Beyoncé’s performance at Coachella last year along with footage from rehearsals and emotional backstage moments. Homecoming is written, directed and produced by the singer.
While the documentary was not a secret to the public, the album drop was a huge surprise to fans. Since 2013, Beyoncé has perfected the art of sneaky album drops and continued the method when she released albums, Lemonade and Everything Is Love. Homecoming: The Live Album features the whole set list from the show along with bonus tracks of an a cappella version of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by her oldest daughter, Blue Ivy. Plus, a cover of “Before I Let Go” and an alternate version of “I Been On.”
While some more recent Beyoncé releases have only been available on the streaming service Tidal, owned by her husband Jay-Z, this live album was released on Apple Music, Spotify and Google Play.
